Dalkey Book festival
14- 16th Dublin
For the book lovers among our hostel guests the annual Dalkey book festival features some top writers like Roddy Doyle, Ann Enright and Dawn O Porter and takes place over 14- 16th June in the very charming seaside town on Dalkey ( home to Bono’s and other rich people ) Only a 25 min Dart ride from the Hostel, It’s a lively village to stroll around loads of great coffee shops and bars and you could work the off with a coastal walk or stroll up to the top of Killiney and Dalkey head for amazing views of Dublin and Wicklow/
Taste of Dublin
13-16th June
Foodies you will love this – in the beautiful Ivegh Gardens in the heart of Dublin – this is now a regular fixture on the Dublin social scene with Dublin’s top restaurants , celebrity chefs like Clodagh McKenna , Rachel Allen and lots of delectable artisan producers. For a serious nibble this is the place to be in Dublin from 13- 16th June. Just a short walk from the hostel across the Liffey to leafy Southside Dublin. Fingers crossed for good weather
Dublin LGBTQ Pride Festival 2013
21st June 2013 – 30th June 2013
Dublin Pride celebrates big this year with a 30th anniversary. This amazing 10 day festival peaks with a colourful and diverse parade through the Streets of Dublin City on Saturday 29th June at 11am. Riverdance
27th June – 1st September
If you are looking for something iconically Irish during your stay at Jacobs Inn – look no further than the RIverdance which returns to the Gaiety theatre on South King street Dublin 2 which opens on 27th June – 1st September . Only a 15 minute walk from Jacobs Inn you can book online at ticket master.ie PS you can often get good value at matinees for River dance on Saturdays and Sundays
You Bloom festival
June 28-30 th
If you love independent music -You Bloom Dublin is the festival for you , Dublin’s Dame street will be the Location for this first annual event featuring 100 independent musical acts from all over the world . Laya Healthcare Street Performance Dance festival
12- 14th July 2013
We love this amazing event – based up in Merion Square Dublin 2. It features some of the best Street performance Acts from around the world over 3 days and IT is FREE ( but you should throw a few coins in the hat if you like – these guys don’t get paid ! ) and it really is a must see during your stay in Dublin over 12- 14th July. Jacobs and Isaacs hostel staff love the street performance dance festival and we think you will too !
Riverdance The Gathering
15 – 21st July
Fancy breaking a world record while you are in Dublin? Join in the Guinness World record attempt to beat the longest chain of dancers to Riverdance (1 km long ) along the banks of the River Liffey in Dublin. This is an amazing opportunity to join the Riverdance Gathering and bring the word record back to Dublin. Participants all get discounted vouchers to see the actual live show at the Gaiety theatre . 7- 11th August
A massive event on the Dublin social scene- whether you love horses or not this is the place to be seen in Dublin this August . Takes place at the RDS I Dublin 2 from August with something for everyone from horse jumping and dressage to fashion shows , food demonstrations .
