February in Dublin

Film Festival

January is now officially over. The recuperating from the holidays is finally done and it is time to get on with 2014. Lucky for us, Dublin is a hive of activity this month. Starting with an action packed RBS Six Nations Rugby Championship, February has the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival and the Dine in Dublin food festival. There is always something going on in Dublin.

The home team will be playing  Scotland and Wales at the Aviva Stadium. The RBS Six Nations (2nd & 8th) rugby league, which includes Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, and  Italy, will have two games played right here in the city. The 2nd of February sees Ireland against Scotland with the home side facing off against Wales on the 8th. Aviva Stadium is Ireland’s only UEFA Category 4/Elite Stadium and has won a number of awards including RIAI & RIBA.

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (13th – 23rd) is Ireland’s premier feature film festival. It boasts over 120 films being shown from all over the world. The festival is a city wide event with films being shown in Cineworld, The Savoy, Screen, Irish Film Institute and Light House Cinema. Its aim is to promote film as an art form across Ireland and the world with interactive talks and screening of all types of film and filmmaker.

Dine in Dublin (24th – 1st) is the city’s bi-annual good food festival. The event showcases the best of eating in Dublin, be that high class restaurants or side street take outs. With demonstrations and tastings going on, this is one of the best times to be in Dublin and eat for free! You just might have to have 50 free samples. There are also lots of discounts around to get people into the city and dinning in ti’s restaurants.
