Dublin is a sprawling city of much culture and activities. Unfortunately most of these cost money and quite a few are very expensive. Remember you are in a capital city. But there are things that you can do around Dublin for absolutely nothing. Here is our list of the best things to do for no money what so ever.

National Museums.

All museum owned by the Irish government are completely free to enter. The Irish are very proud of their learned scholars and writers and encourage everyone to absorb some of this from the national museums. The National Museum of Ireland is spread out over 3 sites in the city. Archaeology in Kildare street, Natural History in Merrion street, and Decorative Arts & History in Collins Barracks.

The Chester Beaty Library

Alfred Chester Beaty was a mining magnate and millionaire from the early 20th century. Often called the ‚King of Copper‘, he was ordained as Ireland’s first honourary citizen. During his life he amassed a great deal of ancient texts and arts that he left to the people of Dublin when he died. As per the man’s instructions, the library is always free to people wanting to visit.

Áras an Uachtaráin

The official residence of the Irish President. Áras an Uachtaráin, or The President’s House, is a grand stately home located in Phoenix Park. A great deer park, and the second largest urban park after Central Park in New York. The house hosts free tours on a Saturday where visitors can learn about the history of the house and all of its inhabitants over the years.

Grafton Street

Grafton street is the main throughfare to St. Stephen’s green. It is one of the best shopping streets in Dublin but also has things for no money. All along the street are performers and acts, jugglers, living statues, musicians, and anything else you could imagine.

Go Sightseeing

Dublin city is an amazing place. It has a huge mixture of old buildings and modern architecture. Parks, art,  a river, and a hell of a lot of history. You can spend an entire day and more wandering the streets. You’ll never see every statue or building. Check out Trinity College, O’Connell Bridge, Temple Bar, and the Historic core.
