Se si viene a Dublino a Marzo, non si puo’ perdere il St Patrick’s Festival, il festival piu’ grande d’Irlanda, con piu’ di 4000 performers che animeranno la citta’ per quattro giorni con canti, danze, esibizioni e la spettacolare parata

Nel 2015 Dublino è stata votata come la seconda città più friendly del mondo perché in nessun’altra città come questa c’è sempre una faccia sorridente con cui parlare!

Perchè c’è sempre qualcosa da fare, e soprattutto c’è sempre un festival in città: se sei appassionato di danza non puoi perderti il Dublin Dance Festival di Maggio, se ami il cinema non puoi mancare al Jameson Film Festival, per gli amanti del buon cibo il Taste of Dublin è un appuntamento irrinunciabile.

Con la più alta concentrazione di pub e club per miglio quadrato rispetto ogni altra località al mondo, è una città in cui è impossibile non saper cosa fare alla sera: una pinta da Murrays e un salto al The Grand Social  meritano una serata

Nel 2016 si celebra il centenario della Rivolta di Pasqua che portò all’indipendenza dell’Irlanda e insieme alle commemorazioni, una nuova app sarà lanciata per accompagnare i visitatori e far conoscere i luoghi storici dell’epoca.

Perchè Dublino non è solo città. A pochi minuti dal centro si può raggiungere la costa con i suoi villaggi tipici e paesaggi mozzafiato. Howth è il più caratteristico e merita una visita.

I musei sono completamente gratuiti: è possibile perdersi tra le circa 15000 opere della National Gallery o il più recente Little Museum of Dublin che racconta la storia della città nel XX secolo

Perchè non c’è miglior posto al mondo dove guardare il torneo di rugby 6 nazioni, magari davanti a una Guinness all’Old Stand, il pub che è una vera attrazione per gli appassionati di rugby.

Ovviamente non poteva mancare anche un festival della birra: l’Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair, il festival di produttori locali e internazionali di birre artigianali e delizie culinarie che appassiona migliaia di dublinesi.

Dublino non ha nulla da invidiare ad altre città quanto ad arte e cultura. E’ possibile scoprire i classici della pittura all’Art National Gallery, immergersi nell’arte moderna dell’Irish Museum of Modern Art o scoprire un po’ di storia recente al Little Museum of Dublin.

Immancabile una serata in uno dei teatri più famosi della città: l’Olympia Theatre, un bellissimo edificio in stile vittoriano che ospita le opere più eclettiche o l’Abbey Theatre che è vero un punto di riferimento per la scena teatrale della città.

Tra le cose da fare a Dublino non puo’ mancare un giro al Phoenix Park: uno dei parchi più belli della città e il più caratteristico con i cervi che pascolano liberamente.

Quanto a caffetterie Dublino non teme confronti: nella zona chiamata da molti Italian Quarter è possibile gustare un ottimo caffè da Lemon Jelly, un coffee shop trendy e molto frequentato. Per qualcosa di più tradizionale e trovare un pizzico di Italia, optate per Il Fornaio o The Italian Corner.

Impossibile non fare una tappa in uno dei tantissimi pub della città. Se la meta preferita dei turisti rimane il famosissimo Temple Bar, merita una visita il Porterhouse Brewery, storica birreria artigianale: ordinando una delle molte birre alla spina capirete il segreto del successo di questo locale.

Per chi ha voglia di far tardi, il Pygmalion è un bar con muri in pietra a vista che si trasforma in club e ospita i dj internazionali più in voga. Si sviluppa in un seminterrato con una vetrata mozzafiato sul Townhouse Center.

Il brunch a Dublino è di casa. Al Brother Hubbard in Capel St si possono gustare creazioni originali per tutti i gusti, grandi classici all’Herbstreet situato vicino al Grand Canal, oppure qualcosa di più sofisticato al San Lorenzo’s.

Per gli amanti dello shopping il George Street Arcade è un mercato vittoriano e un vero e proprio monumento. Offre un’atmosfera unica con i suoi negozi tipici e deliziose proposte culinarie. Il Dundrum Town Center è invece il più grande centro commerciale d’Irlanda situato nel cuore della città.

Una delle attrazioni più famose del nuovo quartiere dei Docklands è il veliero Jeanie Johnston, una replica della più famosa “nave della fame” di Dublino (le navi che durante l’epoca della carestia trasportavano gli emigranti in America). Accuratamente restaurata, ospita un interessante museo all’interno.

Infine Dublino potrebbe non sembrare una città di mare, ma a soli 30 minuti da O’Connell St, si trova una delle più belle spiagge della zona: Killiney Beach. Incantevole al tramonto, il suono delle onde che si infrangono sui ciottoli vi farà isolare dal mondo per un attimo.

Whatever you get up on Halloween and make sure you take advantage of our FREE Face painting by our one and only amazingly talented artist Anna!  And don’t forget to pack a cape or a broom! 

We are face painting on Saturday 25^th October from 11.30am-1.30 pm for those who want to participate in the  Goths v  Zombies dance off as a part of the Bram Stoker festival at 2pm on Grafton Street .On Halloween night there is also Free Face[painting on 31st October from 5pm – 9pm in Isaacs Hostel  ( this is free but you need  to have be in Fancy dress !)

The Wax Museum will be brought to life with real live characters telling ghost stories in the time vaults of Irish Myths & Legends, so be prepared to be spooked ever so slightly.
 

Bram Stoker Festival celebrates all things “Dracula” and the author of the legendary gothic Novel who was born  in Dublin.This takes place from 24- 27^th October and the highlights include Goth karaoke at Meeting House Square,  A Goths v Zombies dance off parade at 2pm on Saturday 25^th October on Grafton Street , the Vampwire ( 2000  lucky vampires will  take to the skies on a zip wire over the weekend ) and  scariest of all n Monday 27^th October  Macanna the summoning, Check out all  events at Bram Stoker Festival here  www.Bramstokerfestival.com

 Otherworld Festival Ballymun is another event worth looking into…  “Otherworld Festival, one of Dublin’s biggest Halloween events takes place in Ballymun. This year the festival will transform the Plaza in front of the Civic Centre and axis on Main Street into “Halloween “a freaky, crazy town where anything can happen on Halloween night.” For all of those who are interested in this event it will take place on the 31st of October starting at 6 pm!!!
